Well Swung Jazz Orchestra
The Big band, "The Well Swung Jazz Orchestra" has just embarked on an exciting new phase of its existence. After a period of inactivity last year, the band has recommenced activity under new musical directorship, new ethos and with a shed load of new music.
The majority of the key musicians are the same, with the addition of some new faces, so the usual high standard of musicianship is to be expected.
The 17 piece big band has been "taking care of business" in its usual manner for a number of charity balls and fund raisers over the last year. You may have heard the band playing under such guises as the "Inseminator big band" and the "NSPCC big band"
The Well Swung Jazz Orchestra were the band behind the "Jazz Factor" competition that culminated in the "Opera House" final. Commented on by many as the bands all time best performance, augmented by a full string section, 3 professional vocalists and the 4 jazz factor finalists.
The Jazz Factor raised over £6000 for local charities.
